Frequently Asked Questions

Food Testing Kits

What is the application of your kits?

Our products are designed for the fast, multiplex, cheap screening of the food products for the most common allergens, species, GMOs, etc.
The advantage of our kits is multiplexing – instead of performing multiple PCR reactions to detect the corresponding target, you can perform one PCR reaction.
Kits may be used for the accurate detection of the desired targets, however sampling, isolation, enrichment and other relevant procedures have significant influence on the performance of the entire analytical procedure.

Which fluorophores are used for the specific targets?

Marker 1 – FAM
Marker 2 – JOE/VIC/YYE/TET
Marker 3 - ROX/Texas Red
Marker 4 – Cy5
Marker 5 – DY681 or Atto425
Please, consult the manuals available on the webpage.

Do you provide mastermix for the kits?
No, we do not provide mastermix.
Microsynth recommends in each user manual an appropriate qPCR master mix.

Do you provide positive controls for the kits?

No, we do not provide positive controls for the kits. We recommend to prepare reference material from the relevant sources using qualified DNA isolation procedures and according to local regulations.

Are your kits validated?

Yes, the kits are validated and the validation studies are published. Please, consult the list of the publications for more information. Please note that the validation covers entire analytical procedure from sampling to the analysis of the results. If your process deviates from the published procedure, you are usually obliged to validate your procedure in your facility. In this case our products are qualified for use in your process.

What is the “LOD” of your kits?

The “LOD” of the analytical procedures which employs our kits are set to match Swiss and EU regulations.
For the GMO it is 0.1 %.
For Allergens it is 0.01 %
Please note that the declared “LOD” is relevant for the published entire analytical procedure. Specific sampling, isolation, enrichment and other relevant procedures have significant influence on the performance of the entire analytical procedure, so on its “LOD” or “LOQ”.

Do you design primers? If yes what is the price?

Yes, we perform primer design for customers (standard PCR primers, qPCR assays as well as siRNAs). The price is depending on the request. Up to 5 primer designs per day and customer are free of charge. If the design is special or significantly more primer designs are needed, we will give you an offer about the pricing. We prefer NCBI-Accession numbers for primer designs, but also accept sequences in plain text / fasta format.
